Who We Are
Hartford Demolition takes down houses, commercial units, interiors and concrete across Hartford. We survey before we price, file the permit ourselves, and put the parts other people leave as variations on the quote.
Why Quotes Differ
When two demolition prices are far apart it is almost never the same job priced differently. Usually one has surveyed for asbestos and the other has not, or one is keeping the salvaged steel while the other credits it back, or one has read the lease clause and the other has assumed.
None of that is visible from the totals. So our quotes itemise the survey, the filing, the waste tonnage and any material credit as separate lines, which makes them longer and occasionally makes them look more expensive.
It also makes them checkable. Pricing is set out under demolition cost, filing under demolition permits, and survey work under asbestos removal.
How It Runs
We look at the building before quoting.
Itemised, with what would change it.
Permit filed, hazards cleared first.
Then the machine work, then the sweep.
What We Say No To
Some of the most useful things a contractor can tell you cost us money. That a partial fill is fine and a full pool removal is unnecessary. That an opening with a lintel is better and cheaper than taking the whole wall out.
That crushing on your site does not pay because the volume is too small. That the drainage work you are asking about is another trade and we would be guessing. We would rather say those things and be trusted on the larger job than take every line offered.
It also means that when we do say something is necessary, it is. Residential work runs under residential demolition, commercial under commercial demolition, and interiors under interior demolition.

They told me on day one that the gas cap would take six weeks, not the demolition. That was the whole schedule and they were right.
Quoted a full removal rather than a partial fill, and explained why the cheaper option would show up on a survey later.
The asbestos survey came back positive on the floor tile. They stopped, abated it, gave me the paperwork, then carried on.
Lot was swept and the debris weighed out with a recycling breakdown. Neighbours never complained once about dust.
