Slabs And Footings

Hartford concrete removal, broken out and reused

Driveways, slabs, footings and foundation walls broken out and hauled, or crushed on site and reused as fill. Reinforcement is separated for recycling rather than going to landfill with the rest.

Haul It Or Crush It

Crushing on site can beat haulage cost outright

Concrete is heavy, and haulage is priced by weight, so on a large slab the disposal can cost more than the breaking. Where there is room for a crusher and a use for the product, processing on site removes most of that cost and leaves you with usable fill instead of a tipping bill.

It is not always the answer: a small driveway does not justify mobilising the plant, and some municipalities restrict it. We price both ways and show you the difference rather than defaulting to whichever suits us.

Reinforcement is pulled and sent for recycling either way. Where the work is a driveway removal the decision is usually haulage, and where it is a large slab removal or concrete crushing becomes worth costing properly.

How It Runs

Four stages, priced before stage two

  1. Measure and locate

Thickness, reinforcement and what runs underneath.

  2. Price both routes

Haulage against on-site crushing, with the numbers shown.

  3. Break and separate

Concrete broken, steel pulled out for recycling.

  4. Remove or reuse

Hauled and weighed, or crushed and placed as fill.

Straight Answers

Hartford concrete removal questions, answered

Often yes, crushed and reused as fill, which removes most of the haulage cost. It depends on space for the plant, the volume, and what your municipality permits.
Pulled out during breaking and sent to a scrap processor. It never goes to landfill with the concrete, and on a large slab it carries real recovery value.
Not if what runs underneath is located first. Services under a slab are the most common cause of an expensive surprise, so locating is done before breaking, not after.
Domestic slabs and driveways are routine. Heavy industrial slabs with mesh and deep footings need bigger plant, which changes the price rather than the possibility.
Where the surrounding structure has to survive, yes. Sawing and core drilling give a clean edge with no vibration, and cost more per metre than breaking.
