Taking part of a building away changes how the rest of it stands up, and the order the work happens in is what keeps that change controlled. Removing a bay can leave a wall unrestrained. Taking a storey off can unload a frame that was relying on the weight.
Cutting a slab can remove the diaphragm that was bracing the columns. None of that is visible from the ground, so the sequence is designed from the structure rather than from what is easiest to reach with a machine. An engineer sets the order and the temporary works, and we build to it rather than around it.
Every partial demolition creates a face that was never meant to be an outside wall, and it is the part most often left out of a quote. That edge has to be made structurally sound, weathertight and safe for whatever is on the other side of it, and if the building stays occupied it has to happen as the work proceeds rather than at the end.
Exposed floor slabs need edge protection, cut services need capping and labelling, and any wall that was internal now needs to keep water out. We price the new edge as its own item so you can see it, because a quote that stops at the demolition is a quote you will be adding to later.

We do, and it is priced as its own line. Structural soundness, weathertightness and edge protection are part of the job, not a follow-on for someone else.
Sequence and support. A full demolition can come down in the order that suits the machine. A partial one has to come down in the order the remaining structure can tolerate.
Temporary works and the engineer sign-off usually add two to four weeks before machine work starts. That time is unavoidable and better in the programme than discovered.
