Muckaway And Grab
Demolition arisings, rubble, timber and muckaway taken off site by grab or tipper. Loads are weighed at a licensed facility and the tickets come back to you rather than staying with the contractor.
Access
Haulage cost is set less by how much material there is than by what can get to it. A grab lorry needs room to reach and a surface that will take the weight; a narrow lane, an overhead cable or a weak crossing can force the whole job onto small tippers, which triples the number of loads for the same tonnage.
Parking suspensions and permits take time to arrange, and on a busy street they are the difference between loading and blocking traffic all day. We look at access before quoting and price the vehicle that can actually get in, rather than the cheapest one and a variation later.
Material comes out of site clearing and excavation, and what can be processed on site instead is handled under concrete crushing.
How It Runs
Vehicle size, surface and permits needed.
Materials separated before loading.
Weighed at a licensed facility.
Weighbridge and transfer notes to you.
Your Duty
Waste from your property remains your responsibility in law even after somebody else has driven away with it, which is why the carrier registration and the transfer documentation matter rather than being administrative decoration. Fly-tipped demolition waste is regularly traced back to the property it came from, and the owner rather than the contractor picks up the consequence.
So it is entirely reasonable to ask a contractor for their carrier registration and their disposal facility before they load anything, and a contractor who is vague about either is telling you something. We give both without being asked and return the weighbridge tickets and transfer notes as a matter of course.
Segregation and recovery reporting sit under disposal and recycling, hazardous streams under abatement, and the wider scope under site work.

They told me on day one that the gas cap would take six weeks, not the demolition. That was the whole schedule and they were right.
Quoted a full removal rather than a partial fill, and explained why the cheaper option would show up on a survey later.
The asbestos survey came back positive on the floor tile. They stopped, abated it, gave me the paperwork, then carried on.
Lot was swept and the debris weighed out with a recycling breakdown. Neighbours never complained once about dust.
