Openings, penetrations and controlled cuts through slabs, walls and structures. Every position is scanned before drilling, because reinforcement, tendons and live services are rarely where the drawings put them.
A core through a slab takes minutes. A core through a tendon, a main reinforcing bar or a live cable takes weeks and an engineer. Scanning with ground penetrating radar before drilling is not a precaution, it is the method, and any contractor who quotes coring without it is pricing a gamble.
Reinforcement drawings are frequently out of date, services get added long after handover, and post-tensioned slabs are not always flagged to whoever is holding the drill. We scan, mark, and where a position clashes with something structural we move it and tell you why rather than drilling and hoping.
Wet diamond cutting keeps the blade cool and keeps silica dust out of the air, and it produces a grey slurry that has to go somewhere. In an occupied building that somewhere is not the floor below, the lift shaft or the nearest drain, and slurry finding its way into a tenant s ceiling is a common and entirely avoidable complaint.
It is also a pollution issue outdoors, because concrete slurry is strongly alkaline and should not reach a watercourse or a surface drain. We contain and vacuum at the tool and dispose of the slurry properly. Where a dry method with extraction is the better answer for the setting, we say so.
